Yukon Ho!

September 16, 2013

Total mileage (car): 2554

Total mileage (with ferry): 3399.5

Me and my man at Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve
The past few days we journeyed away from the coast and into the Yukon (and then back into Alaska). Yukon ho!

Following the Chilkat river up to the Alaska-Canada border.

Beauty.
It was some of the most remote countryside I have ever journeyed through.  But breathtaking.  Fall is in the air and the colors are exploding.  We broke out the winter "puffies" and donned our beanies.  The crisp, cool air fills are lungs.  Fall is our favorite season: we are a happy bunch.

Yukon ho!
Fall color explosion.

The Big Girl loves the mountains.

The sun breaks through in Kluane National Park, Yukon.

Now for a few days rest in Fairbanks before we journey past the Arctic Circle and into the bush.

The Alaska Range hovers beyond.

Amazing flood zone.

Taking a break from the drive.

:)

Happy to be in a grassy lawn in Fairbanks for a few days.  Thanks, Grandma, for my new backpack!
