new territory

September 4, 2013
Day: 3
Total Mileage: 1241

It was a good day.  A really good day.  Today we ventured into uncharted territory. And that, my friend, is always exciting.

Today we shot due north for the entirety of the day (North to Alaska, baby!) through some seriously incredible land.  Colter seemed to sense  our excitement and was the best little traveler.  I think that was one of the greatest gifts of the day.

My favorite shot from the day.
We reached Mt Shasta, a marker of the most Northern driving point for both CJ and I in California, and kept on trucking straight for the Oregon border.  We hit the state line at sunset.  We couldn't have timed it any better.  Neither of us had ever been to Oregon: seeing it firsthand as the sunset over the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range was certainly memorable.
Breaktime at the base of Mt Shasta

Butte Valley on the Oregon/ California border.

Farmland. Water tank.  Sunset.  I couldn't resist the picture and made CJ pull over.
The perfect ending to a perfect day?  Sitting on the outside patio of The Creamery in Klamath Falls, drinking a Hefewiezen, listening to live music and eating superb Fish & Chips with my boys.  A bit of heaven.
Do you hear the angels singing?

Oregon?  Yeah, we've been there.  Done that.
You should see the bugs plastered against the PopTop and the Big Girl.  Rad.  Too bad we just drove through a massive hail storm and I didn’t get a picture.  I figure we’ll have plenty of bugs once we hit Alaska.

We love Weed.
