Ferry Day 2.

Boys in beanies.
We awoke to the sound of the fog horn in the wee hours of the morning.  Knowing viewing would be slim, we stuffed some ear plugs in and went right back to sleep.  A few hours later, we crawled out of our warm cabin and braved the foggy, Canadian waters.  Brillant.  Massive floating logs glided through still waters.  Pacific white sided dolphins swam in our wake.  And my boys strolled the decks in their beanies.  It was a picturesque morning.

The Malcolms take on the ferry.

Love that smile.

The fog lifted and we enjoyed sunny skies.  In September.  Apparently this is unheard of - I'll take it.  We watched humpback whales all afternoon.  We walked at least 2 miles around the deck of the ship.  Colter was still ready to go.  Interesting fact:  8 laps around the outside deck of the ship is one mile.

Watching humpbacks from the comfort of our room.

Thank you, Michaela!  We love our homemade Magic Granola Bars!
Proud to be American.
When we first parked our truck, we ran into a big, burly man.  Beard, tattoos, massive arms - everything you would think of in a classic "Alaskan Mountain Man".  At first I was intimidated by his appearance but he approached us and had the gentlest soul.  He played with Colter and talked of his grandkids.  Never judge a book by its cover.  The “Alaskan Grown” (as evidenced by the sweatshirts they proudly wear) are quite friendly.

Lighthouses rock.

Time out for sightseeing.

Falling asleep in Canada.  Awaking to Alaska.

Goodnight, Canada!

Boys in beanies - its so cute I have to take photos.
