the final hours

September 1, 2013

Day: 1 day until departure
Total Mileage: 0

My husband calls me today from work:

CJ: "Hey, Heather, guess what?"

Me: "What?"

CJ: "Tomorrow?  Tomorrow we're going to Alaska!"

Me: "Woot woot!"

That about sums up the Malcolm house today.  We've got various projects going on, but the underlying theme?  We're leaving for Alaska!!!

We're getting a little bit giddy.  I'm having a hard time focusing.  My heart beat is averaging 100 beats per minute.  I'm just so darn excited.  I can hardly eat.  Sleep?  Who needs that?  Colter seems to sense our shift in temperament and is feeling a bit more needy.  Don't worry, little buddy, you're coming with us to ALASKA.

An afternoon stroll after a monsoon.
Last night, I was in the house tidying up a bit and I walk out to the garage to this:

What a character!

CJ: (in his epic French accent) "It is, eh, it is Moostache March."

Me: (attempting to be un-amused in work mode) "No, it's not.  It's August."

CJ: (looking rather bewildered, but maintaining his French accent) "Oh, Oui, Oui, come give me a kiss!"

Mustache March or not, I can't resist my Frenchman!

Classic.

Meanwhile, I was actually productive.  He he.  CJ has this wonderful ability to play while getting stuff done.  Me, on the other hand, I must focus entirely on the project.  We provide a wonderful balance for each other.

Sanding for a walkway on top of the PopTop.

Hickory is such beautiful wood.

Folks, I'm signing off.  Next you hear from us, we'll be on our way to ALASKA!

The Big Girl...ready to go!
